Bringing Fathers + Daughters Together with Hero + Her

Thank you so much to our partners at Hero + Her for sponsoring this post and providing a craft box to our contributor. As always, all opinions that follow are those of the author.

My husband always wanted to have a daughter. So, when we were expecting our first child and found out it was a girl, I know he was already thinking about how he would create a strong relationship with her.

I think we can all agree it’s important for parents to have strong relationships with their children, but research has also been shown that women who have a close relationship with their father achieve more success in school and are more confident and assertive. There’s also evidence to show they are 50% less likely to develop depression. Talk about good reasons to work on developing this relationship even more!

My daughter, who’s five, loves doing anything creative, so my husband and her spend a lot of one-on-one time together coloring, playing with stickers and making fun crafts. When I heard about the Hero + Her box, I immediately loved the idea and knew she would too!

The Hero + Her is a monthly subscription box, which gives fathers and daughters (ages 4-9) the opportunity to spend quality time together. Each box contains 4+ hours of activities (all materials and directions included!), which means an afternoon of fun for the two of you, without having to plan a thing!

The boxes have been co-designed with a Family Development Coach to make sure the activities are not only fun and engaging, but also help to develop the girls’ self esteem through relationship building with their father or father-figure. The founders of Hero + Her are extremely passionate about encouraging and building confidence in young girls, which I love. They are also a Columbus-based business so it’s a great way to support local as well!

I also love how they provide the opportunity for a deeper connection by giving several thought-provoking questions for my husband to ask my daughter along the way. They weren’t just doing crafts, they were having meaningful conversations too!

Questions like “What is your favorite thing for us to do together?” and “Who is your best friend and why?” gave them different topics to discuss while working on the activities. They even provide the opportunity for a a fun father/daughter dance party by adding a Spotify playlist!

Our November was packed full of fun activities, including a friendship bracelets for my husband and daughter to make together, a Thanksgiving themed bingo game, an outdoor scavenger hunt, the materials to send a letter to a friend or family member, a paper doll to color and her favorite, a s’mores treat!

They had so much fun doing the projects together! If you want to build your daughter’s self esteem by bonding with her father through fun activities, I highly recommend this box for you! There’s also a gift option, if you’re still looking for that perfect Christmas gift! It will most certainly provide an afternoon of fun for everyone involved!

The team at Hero + Her has generously provided our readers with a discount code! You can use the code MOMS30 to receive 30% off your first month! New subscribers need to order by November 30 to receive a December box. After this date, January will be the first box received.
