Columbus Moms Blog Guide to November 2017


How is it November already? We’ve got a ton craft shows for you this month like the highly anticipated Ohio Made Holiday Market to get you in the holiday spirit! What a great opportunity to get a head start on your shopping and to support local at the same time! 

There are Turkey Trots, local performances (Mary Poppins, The Nutcracker to name a few!), a pumpkin drop, as well as several tree lightings at the end of the month. November is such a great month to focus on your family and all the things you have to be thankful for.

November 1-7

November 1: Wild Story Time: Turkeys: 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. at Ohio Wildlife Center | Gobble Gobble! Time to get into the Thanksgiving spirit with turkey story time this month. Crafts accompany the book and walk around the 20-acre property. $5 per caretaker. 

November 1-4: Kids Clothing and Toy Pop Up Shop: Wednesday 6:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m., Thursday 10:00 a.m.- 7:00 p.m., Friday 10:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. | Save 50%-90% on infant clothing, toys, shoes, baby gear, etc.! 

November 2: Creatures of the Night: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Grange Audubon Center | The Ohio Wildlife Center will be bringing a few of their favorite nighttime friends to the center. Learn how to coexist 🙂 

November 2: Best Bites: Comfort Food: 6:00 p.m.- 10:00 p.m. at COSI | Come chow down on a wide range of comforting bites from local vendors. Live entertainment, cash bar, and exclusive after hours to COSI. Tickets start at $25. 

November 2 and 4: Little Shop of Horrors: 7:00 p.m. at Dublin Coffman High School | $5 for students and $10 for adults! Come out and see the show! 

November 3: Family Night at The Worthington Community Center: 6:30 p.m.- 9:30 p.m. | Free night of crafts and games and $3 to swim! 

November 3: Books and Brews: 7:00 p.m.- 10:00 p.m. at Worthington Library | This after-hours event, hosted by the Friends Foundation of Worthington Libraries, will feature 7-8 tastings from some of Ohio’s best craft breweries. Enjoy food from area restaurants, a silent auction, a beer trivia contest and more!

November 4: Home Depot Kids DIY Workshop: 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. | Join our hands-on workshop where you and your child can build a custom wooden humvee to honor all those that have served our country. Once the humvee is built, your child can decorate it with paint and stickers. 

November 4: KidsLinked Learning Rocks Education Expo: 9:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. at Ohio Expo Center and State Fair | Fine Education and Tutoring Solutions, College and Financial Planning, Book fair and education materials! 

November 4: Grandview Holiday Bazaar: 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. at Grandview Heights Middle School | Pre- Holiday Shopping experience offering high-quality independent artisans and local businesses. 

November 4: Wine and Cheese Fest: 11:00 a.m. at Lucky’s Market: Live Music, good times, and wine and cheese! 

November 4: Day of the Dead Craft at The Franklin Park Conservatory: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. | Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday that celebrates life and remembers loved ones. Make traditional Day of the Dead crafts like a Calavera skull scratch art and a tissue paper flower.

November 4: National Bison Day: 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Battelle Darby Nature Center | Celebrate America’s national mammal with a movie and activities. 

November 4: Concert Series at The Shops at Worthington Place: 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. | Come relax by the fireplace by the playland for a free concert. This week is Tony Hagood. 

November 4-5: Artisan Ballet Company presents Mary Poppins: 7:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. at Northland Performing Arts Center | Take a “supercalifragilsticexpiadlidocious” journey with the dancers. $15 for general admission. 

November 5: Dancing with the Nutcracker: 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.  at BalletMet | Enjoy a special holiday storytime featuring dancers in costume, plus coloring and exclusive discounts on Nutcracker tickets!

November 5: Made Local Marketplace: Noon to 6 p.m. at Polaris Fashion Place | 100 makers located throughout the mall in time for Holiday shopping! 

November 5: The Great Pumpkin Drop: 1:00 p.m. at Marysville Fire Station | Bring the family and watch pumpkins SPLATTER as they’re dropped from a 10o foot ladder truck! You can tour the fire station after as well! 

November 5: Fairy and Troll House Trail: 2:00 p.m. at Blendon Woods Metropolitan Park | Use materials found in the forest to build tiny houses for fairies or trolls along the Ripple Rock Trail. 

November 7: Yoga and Cocktails: 7:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at Le Meridian | Join in for a complimentary Yoga session followed by a specialty cocktail menu at Soul Bar. 

November 8-15

November 8: Boozy Botanics Workshop: 6:30 p.m. at The Crest Parsons | Join Planthropy and The Crest in a succulent workshop. 

November 10: COhatch “Night Lights” Party: 5:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. at COhatch new location | Celebrating the new location on Village Green in Worthington. Food, Beer Garden, Live music and GLOW IN THE DARK games!

November 11: Veteran’s Day Free Day at the Zoo!: 10:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. at The Columbus Zoo | Honoring veterans for their sacrifices with free admission. 

November 11: Veteran’s Day Parade: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. in Hilliard | Parade steps off from Franklin County Fairgrounds and proceeds to Veterans Memorial at Roger Reynolds Municipal Park

November 11: Ohio Made Holiday Market: 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (VIP ticket holders can enter at 9 a.m.) at Hollywood Casino | This is an AMAZING holiday craft show and you don’t want to miss it! There will be over 100 vendors and time to watch the OSU game if you’d like. After 12 p.m. admission is free, but VIP tickets for earlier admission can be purchased.

November 11: Historic Dublin Wine Trail: 1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. in Historic Dublin | Join in for an amazing selection of Red Wines from 8 local favorites. 

November 11: Sunset at the Lake: 4:45 p.m. at Praire Oaks Metro Park | Watch for wildlife as the sun sets over the water and enjoy s’mores around a campfire. Bring your own food to cook and something to sit on. 

November 11: Concert Series by the Fire: 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at The Shops at Worthington Mall | Come sit by the fire and enjoy the music by John Morgan. 

November 10- November 11: Junk Bash: Holiday Boutique: 10:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. at The Ohio Expo Center and State Fair | Vintage Boutique with a party atmosphere and lots of holiday cheer. Featuring a union of all things rusty, old, dusty, handmade, reloved, good tasting and stylish.

November 11: Saturday Morning Cartoons at Gateway Film Center: 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. | For $5 you will get personal size cereal and a pour from the milk bar along with the most beloved cartoons and retro breakfast bar. 

November 11-12: Craftin Outlaws Holiday Showdown: 12:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. at Columbus Convention Center| 2-day craft show holiday bonanza! Join over 100 vendors!

November 12: Family Fun with the Columbus Zoo at Franklin Park Conservatory | 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. | Come have fun with the family as the Zoo visits for the day! 

November 12: 2nd Westside Community Baby Shower: 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Mount Carmel College of Nursing | Are you pregnant or have a baby 3 months or younger? There will be prizes, giveaways, free diapers, community health workers, food and much more! 

November 12: Annual Holiday Kickoff Parade: 1:30 p.m.- 2:30 p.m. at Polaris Fashion Place | Famous holiday parade welcomes Santa to his set for the season, along with the Worthington Band and many more holiday characters! 

November 13: Salt Cave Guided Meditation: 7:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. at Tranquility Salt Cave: Relax in a reclining chair or on the heated beach like salt floor as you soak in the healing salt treatment and take in the music! Tickets include an hour-long halotherapy treatment. 

November 14: Story Time on the Farm: 10:00 a.m. at Stratford Ecological Center | Join other families on the farm for a fun and educational hour of storytelling and unique hands-on experience. $5 per family. 

November 14: Pajama Party at Chick-fil-a: 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. | Dress in your most comfortable pj’s and join in for a relaxing dinner with bedtime activities. Enjoy complimentary ice cream topping bar too! 

November 14: How to Get Organized and Reduce Stress: 7:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. at The Wonder Jam | A workshop to make small adjustments on how to organize your life, make plans, and create processes that will reduce stress. 

November 16-23

November 16: COSI after Dark: Good Eats Food: 5:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. at COSI | Learn about the science of food, just in time for Thanksgiving! 

November 16: Wildlights Member Preview Night: 5:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. at The Columbus Zoo | Come out for a members only night! 

November 16-18: The Drowsy Chaperone: 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at The McCoy Center | This delightful musical inside of a comedy will transport the audience into Jazz Age. Put on by the New Albany High School. 

November 17: Easton Tree Lighting: 6:30 p.m. at Easton | Watch children’s eyes sparkle as Santa arrives, along with a special guest, to illuminate Easton’s beautiful Christmas tree and a breathtaking display of lights.

November 18th: Girls on the Run 5k: 8:30 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. at The Columbus Commons | Girls on the Run of Central Ohio, Inc. is a life-changing, experiential learning program for girls ages eight to thirteen years old!

November 18th: Christmas Corner: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Franklin County Fairgrounds | Free admission and 65 holiday craft booths! 

November 18: All Ohio Reptile Show: 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. at The Franklin County Fairgrounds | Come see your favorite reptiles! 

November 18: PB & J Jazz Family Concert: 10:00 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. at Lincoln Theatre | From Jazz classics to Disney Songs and beyond, there is sure to be music for all ages. It is a one-hour interactive concert for kids and families to introduce the next generation to jazz in a relaxed environment. 

November 18: Not Your Mama’s Big Holiday Market: 1:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. at The Annunciation Cathedral Banquet Hall | An amazing afternoon of holiday shopping! Food, drink, festive music and 70 + vendors. 

November 18: Introduction to Baking: 9:00 am. – 1:00 p.m. at Stratford Ecological Center | For ages 10 and up, enjoy a fun hands-on class to learn the fundamentals of dough, quick breads, pies, cakes and cookies. 

November 18: Wild Kratts Live: 1:00 p.m. at The Ohio Theatre | Animated Kratt Brothers come to real life in a classic Wild Kratts Story. 

November 18: Concert Series by the Fire: 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at The Shops at Worthington Place | Come join in the music by the fireplace. Two Fun Guys performing tonight! 

November 19: Baby + Art: Thankful Turkeys: 10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. | Ages 9 months to 2.5 year old. This is a messy and casual activity to explore new supplies, sensory items and meeting other mamas. $10 per family. 

November 19: Give Thanks at Sunbury Urban Farm: 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. | Bring your little sprouts to the farm to explore the world around them. Starts with a story, followed by multiple hands-on activities related to the theme of Giving Thanks! 

November 19: Holiday and Craft Vendor Fair: 1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. at The Worthington Community Center | Admission is free and swag bags for the first 100 people in the door! 

November 23: Thanks For Giving 4 miler and Kids Run : 8:00 a.m. at Market Square New Albany | All runners and families are welcome! 

November 23: Holiday Lights at The Columbus Commons: Dusk- 11:00 p.m. | Come see an incredible light show until January 2 at the Commons! 

November 24-30

November 24-26-: Kings Island Winter Fest 2017: 5:00 p.m.- 10:00 p.m. | An unforgettable experience with the park transformed into nine enchanting winter wonderlands featuring ice skating on the Royal Fountain, the Eiffel Tower transformed into a magical Christmas tree, up to 17 rides including Mystic Timbers, more than 5 million lights and 14 holiday characters spreading merriment, like Jack Frost and Sugar Plum Fairy. Could be a fun road trip! 

November 24-25: Zassy & Friends Christmas Show : 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at Via Vecchia Winery | Come shop Black Friday with Zassy and Friends during the Christmas Show. Admission is free in the spirit of Christmas! 

November 25: Holiday Tales at Franklin Park Conservatory: 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. | Storyteller Michelle Cornell presents Holiday Tales to celebrate the season.

November 26: Holiday Open House in Old Worthington: 12:00 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. | Stroll our sidewalks and enjoy musical entertainment. Stop and visit with Santa in front of the Worthington Inn. Have your child’s picture taken with Santa. Food and beverages abound in our eateries while shops offer holiday snacks and exciting merchandise. Enjoy the entertainment of carolers. Take a carriage ride and view the Christmas decorations in downtown Worthington.

November 26: Tree Illuminiation in Old Worthington: 5:30 p.m. | Visit the Southeast Village Green for the annual Tree Illumination Ceremony. The program begins at 5:30 pm with carols and an appearance by Santa Claus to light the tree. 

November 30: Illumination Shopping Event in Old Worthington : 6:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. | Come to Downtown Worthington for an Illuminating Shopping experience! Bring your friends to enjoy wine & cheese, live music, carriage rides and special sales while you shop amid glowing luminaries for all of your holiday party & gift giving needs.

November 30: Tree Lighting in Dublin: 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. | Get in the holiday spirit with this tree lighting ceremony! 

November 30: Conservatory Members Holiday Event: 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Franklin Park Conservatory | Special evening for members that celebrate Gardens Aglow holiday exhibit.

Maureen Ingham has enjoyed living in the great city of Columbus for nearly 13 years! Originally from Canton, Ohio, Maureen attended Ohio University and will always be a bobcat at heart! After completing her education degree in Athens, she made her way to The Ohio State University to obtain a Masters degree in Special Education. She fell in love with Columbus then and convinced her now husband to join her in this awesome city! She taught 5th grade for 6 years, before deciding to stay home to raise two beautiful girls. Their family has recently moved to Worthington with their two girls and are excited to plant their roots here! Their first daughter, Maeve is 6 and her sister, Reese will soon be 5 years old. They welcomed a son, Miles in March 2020. Maureen has been with The Columbus Moms Blog since the beginning and now enjoys working on editing and events for the blog. She also works as a Postpartum Doula with her sister at a company called Together Wee Grow. They provide night nursing services, as well as daytime support to local families and babies in Columbus. It is a wonderful job to work along her sister and help families with their precious little ones in a vulnerable time period. In between the night shifts, sweeping up crumbs, exploring Columbus, and getting kids to where they need to be, Maureen enjoys working out, trying new recipes and restaurants, traveling, spending time with family, being crafty and trying to help others whenever she can! Maureen has many Columbus favorites. Her go-to restaurant is Third and Hollywood, she enjoys a sweet treat at Sassafrass Bakery or Fox in the Snow, a slice of pizza at Dewey's Pizza and a warm cup of joe at Highline Coffee. A perfect Saturday involves an outdoor activity with her family and trying a new restaurant when they can! She is excited to be a part of an excellent team here at Columbus Moms blog and hopes to be able to inspire mothers that small acts of kindness go a long way in raising their kids and the city they live in!
