The Arts and Sciences Summer Exploration Program is a one-week non-residential academic enrichment program for middle (current 7-8 graders) and high school (current 9-11) students. In-person classes meet from 9am to 4pm each day and are taught by Ohio State faculty, staff and graduate students. Teaching is active and hands-on, encouraging students to explore new areas of study or allow them to engage in content they already have an interest in. Summer Exploration is offered in three, one-week sessions in June 2024. Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Hilliard’s Station Park is located at the starting point of the seven-mile Heritage Trail in downtown Hilliard. Until the mid-20th century, this was the site of the city’s original town center, where Main Street and the old railroad station came together. The station is long gone but the city wants the site to be a center of activity again. Part of a phased revitalization effort to bring business and activity to downtown Hilliard, Hilliard’s Station Park is both a recreational hub for a nearby bike trail and a year-round event space for the community. The park contains an amphitheater, spray park, multi-functional building, a public restroom and storage/maintenance facility. Architectural features of the two buildings reflect the site’s past use as a train depot.
Olde Sawmill Park is located in Northwest Columbus, just north of 1-270 off of Sawmill Rd. The park features a playground, paved walking paths, a basketball court, a shelter house, picnic tables, and plenty of open space for outdoor activities.

This park is great because it has a section for toddlers and another spot for bigger kids. There is a rubber surface so you don’t need to worry about mud or mulch. During soccer season, this park is a very popular spot for teams to play. There are also baseball fields, volleyball, public art with a big soccer ball display (makes a good picture) and restrooms open seasonally.
This is one of the BEST children’s section and library play areas. In the indoor Story Garden, there are displays of favorite classic book characters such as Humpty Dumpty, The Hungry Caterpillar, Cinderella and more. Enter into the Three Bears Cottage area to find seating to read books or a shelf with lots of play ideas like blocks, Magna-tiles, cars and more. There’s also a wide selection of books and videos to check out. This library is part of the Worthington Libraries, but you can check out items using your Columbus Metropolitan Library card.
Emerald Fields is a large park that is completely mulch free (less mess after rainy days). There are several play areas so kids of different ages will find things to keep them busy. It is also designed for children with special needs. There are 2 special needs swings, 2 infant swings and several other swings. The play-structure is very large. There is also a fun structure that plays music, lights up and has buttons to push. You can find this right when you enter the park. There is not much shade at this park, except under the shelter with picnic tables.
