5 to Try: Ice Cream Shops

0

Summer is here, which means it’s time to get out and everyone’s favorite warm weather treat – ice cream! It can be easy to visit the same ice cream shops over and over again, especially once little kids pick a favorite! However, if you’re looking to branch out and try somewhere new, here are five of my favorites you might not have tried before. Enjoy!

Mardi Gras Ice Cream

After seeing several Instagram posts about this little ice cream shop in the northern part of Worthington, we finally made a stop to see what it was all about! I’m so happy we did! Not only did they have a large selection of fan favorites like chocolate, vanilla and my kids favorite, blue moon, but they also had some international flavors like papaya and lychee, which my husband and I enjoyed!  If you’re in the mood to try a new flavor, this would be a good one to check out!

Graeter’s Lil’ Pints Playroom

While I’m fairly certain everyone in Columbus knows about Graeter’s Ice Cream… Have you visited their ice cream shop with the play area on Bethel Road? It’s great for those “it’s too hot to play outside” afternoons. Stop in for ice cream and stay to work off some of that sugar! Note: Socks are required and the play area regulations are subject to change based on COVID restrictions.

Little Ladies Soft Serve

If you like soft serve, then a stop to this ice cream truck is a must! While my kids and I love their vanilla/chocolate swirl soft serve cones with sprinkles, my husband is always the adventurous one to try one of their awesome and enormous sundaes! You can find where their truck will be located via their website, Facebook and Instagram. My advice is to get there early as there will be a line and also, bring lots of napkins and wipes for your kids!

Coppa Gelato

This is my husband’s favorite ice cream shop and even though it isn’t technically “ice cream” I had to add it to this list. Located in a small plaza off of State Street in Westerville, you might not even notice it driving by, but it is worth a visit! They have several different gelato and sorbet flavors, as well as fun food items like macarons, cakes and cream puffs! Their flavors change daily and I don’t personally think you can choose wrong, but my favorite is nutchella!

Gypsy Joe’s

Okay, so you’ll have to travel a bit to get to this one, but I just can’t make a list about ice cream without adding Gypsy Joe’s ice cream shop in Lancaster! I may be biased since I worked here in high school, but it is SO good! They have a ton of flavors (my personal favorite is Eskimo kisses!) and an addition since my days of working there are donuts! Next time you find yourself in Lancaster or maybe on your way to Hocking Hills, this is a great stop along the way!
