If you’re anything like me, food is a big part of the holiday season!  Not only do I love to indulge in all of the yummy treats, but I also find food and food-related items makes the perfect holiday gift!  I mean, who doesn’t love getting food gifts?  It’ll almost never go to waste or be thrown aside, like so many gifts you may have received before.

If you’re looking for a something local to give, look no further because I’ve rounded up a bunch of fun foodie gifts from local businesses that anyone would love to receive!

Food

Columbus Food Adventures Have you ever taken a food tour?  I’ve taken two, one in German Village and one for Breakfast.  They are so much fun and a great way to spend the day with your significant other or maybe a few girlfriends.  Plus, not to mention you get to try some of the top food spots around town!

Coffee – What mama doesn’t love and need coffee? I don’t often splurge on the best coffee for my daily cup, do you?  Wouldn’t it be nice to have your favorite coffee shop blend on a daily basis?   Staufs and Crimson Cup are two of my local favorites who sell their coffee by the bag. I’m sure there’s probably a good chance one of your favorites does too!

Wine  – Whether you’re going through the terrible two’s or teenage years, sometimes mama just needs a nice glass of wine to relax after a long day.  Columbus is home to a couple of great wineries.  Two of my favorites are Powell Village Winery and Wyndotte Winery, who both offer tastings as well as bottles for sale.

Ice Cream – I love ice cream! Yes, even in the middle of winter when it’s below 32 degrees. We have so many great ice cream shops around town, who also luckily sell their pints either at their own stores or local grocery stores.  I know I would be one happy mama to receive a pint of my favorite ice cream, even when it’s freezing outside!

Chocolate –  We’re lucky to have so many local chocolate shops to cure your sweet tooth! A few of my favorites are Sugar Bush, Winans and Eagle Family Candy and I bet any mama would love getting a few treats from any of these tasty shops!  Pair this with a bottle of wine or bag of coffee from above and voila! perfect girlfriends gift!

Popcorn – Have you been to Al’s Popcorn?  If you love popcorn, this is the place for you! They have so many flavors and something for everyone – salty, sweet or even just classic butter flavor.  Add a gift card to the movies or a good DVD and you’ve got a great gift!

Salsa – Looking for someone who’s more of a savory gal than sweet? How about locally made Ridiculously Good Salsa, which is just as the name says, ridiculously good! My husband can honestly eat the full container in one sitting!  Pair a container with a bag of tortilla chips and a margarita mix and you’ve got a cute girls night gift.

Food-Related Items

Fun Glassware – If you want to give a longer lasting gift than these edible treats above, have you thought about giving a set of glassware?  These glasses from Paisley Proposal are so cute perfect for someone who likes to entertain.

Cutting Boards – This is another great gift for someone who likes to entertain.  Wouldn’t an Ohio-shaped cutting board from Re:Work Furnishings be cute with some cheese and crackers when having friends over?  I’m not likely to leave out my beat-up cutting boards, but this is perfect to show off when entertaining!  They have a store in Grandview, but I found their cutting boards at Simply Vague at Polaris mall.

Coffee Mugs – What better way to drink your morning cup than with a cute mug from Brim Papery?  I love some of their phrases like “I’m fine, everything’s FINE!” or “This Might Be Wine.”  Wouldn’t you (or a friend!) like to start your day with a fun mug like this?  I

Local Cookbook – Jeni Britton Bauer of Jeni’s Ice Creams fame has two cookbooks published, but so do a few other locals.  Dietician and food blogger, Taylor Riggs, has a cookbook titled Real Food, Real Simple, which I happen to own and is full of delicious (and healthy!) recipes.  There’s also a book by Renee Casteel and Tiffany Harelik titled The Columbus Food Truck Cookbook, which as you might have guessed, has recipes from some of our local food trucks.

Foodie ClothingThe BB Tee has a couple of really cute food-related T-shirts. They have two T’s with cute phrases like “Current Mood All the Food” and “First I do the Coffee, Then I Do the Things.”  What foodie mama wouldn’t want one of these? I know I would!

Aprons –  If you want to make sure you stay clean and look stylish while cooking,  DayluDesigns has aprons for the whole family!  I especially love their mommy and me matching sets.  Doesn’t that make cooking with your youngster that much more fun?  I think it does!

Other IdeasElm & Iron is another great store to check for uniquely styled home goods such as cutting boards, bottle openers, coffee mugs, plates and so much more.
