Try This to Make Your Evenings a Little Easier

Many thanks to Dinner to Doorbells for partnering with us by sponsoring this post and letting me experience their service!

Happy fall, ya’ll!

I’ve always been a fan of summer, but after weeks of humidity and 90-degree weather,  and months of being overbooked on the weekends, I’ve been looking forward to cooling off and slowing down a little this fall.

Oh, wait. My daughter started kindergarten this year, which changed life as we know it. And I started a new role with increased responsibility at work. Oh, and did I mention I’m 20+ weeks pregnant with our third child?

Life isn’t slowing down anytime soon, so I jump at any opportunity to make it a little easier to navigate the chaos. That’s why I was thrilled with the opportunity to try out Dinner to Doorbells, a meal delivery service specializing in healthy no prep or minimal prep meals. And did I mention that most meals come fully prepped, often in an oven safe tin? That means no prep time and no dirtying pots and pans!

How it Works

Each Saturday a new menu becomes available for ordering on www.dinnertodoorbells.com and stays open until that Tuesday at midnight. Meals are delivered (refrigerated or frozen, depending on the item) on the following Sunday.

While there are a number of other meal delivery kits out there, Dinner to Doorbells stands out because its not a subscription!  You just order as you please, when needed, without any kind of weekly commitment, or need to “skip” orders. You can choose the meals you want (and how much of each item to you want from 1 to 6 servings), but there is a $50 minimum per order.

What I Loved About It

  • The Ease: From ordering online to delivery to actual mealtime, this experience was convenient and uncomplicated. One of my meals was a slow cooker meal, which I just had to throw in the crockpot in the morning. Another I stuck in the oven frozen and it was ready in less than an hour.
  • The Quality: Not only was the food healthy, but it was also good. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this new-to-Columbus service, but I was happy to find plenty of fresh-tasting vegetables in the meals and quality ingredients. My favorite thing was probably a quinoa & spinach salad with fresh berries and grilled chicken. I ordered two and thoroughly enjoyed lunchtime two days in a row.
  • No Sacrifice: For me, the best part about ordering from Dinner to Doorbells is not having to choose between quick food and food that I feel good about feeding my family. It’s the best of both worlds. And, because it’s not a subscription-based service, it provides the flexibility to order more of the things my family loves and less of the things I want to try but don’t think will be a hit with the kids.
  • The Backstory: This business was founded by a mom who was unhappy with using the little time she had with her daughter after work worrying about dinner. After discovering the positive impact of meal prep, she started Dinner to Doorbells to improve the lives of other busy families. I love the idea of supporting another mom, who’s ultimately built her business around trying to help others.
