Infertility and Superfoods

Can you remember a time when you and your friends were mostly concerned with trying to prevent an unplanned pregnancy? Now, how many women do you know who are struggling with infertility? Have you witnessed the pain and devastation it causes? Maybe you know the pain all too well because it is you who is suffering.

You are not alone, but that probably doesn’t help you find comfort. The pain is just too real and raw.

Is this not the ultimate betrayal? Our bodies were designed to reproduce. The human race depends on our ability to reproduce. Why are our bodies failing us now? There are lots of theories and potential causes, but let’s get something straight- It is NOT your fault. You did nothing wrong. You are not being punished. This is not some sick, twisted karma. You did not manifest infertility.

Your body is a product of its generation. Your body is likely full of toxic chemicals and substances that have been passed down to you from previous generations. Those toxic chemicals are wreaking havoc on your body, your mind and your spirit. They are making it more and more difficult for women to have children with each passing year.

What Can You Do?

The best thing you can do to boost your fertility and your overall health is to help your body rid itself of the unwanted toxic substances by consuming superfoods.

There are no quick, easy fixes. You accumulated those toxins over your lifetime, they’re not going disappear overnight.

But you can get started with something as simple as the food you eat. You eat at least three times a day, that is at least three opportunities each day to clean up some toxins and boost your fertility! How empowering is that?

Everything you put into your body has the power to add to your toxic load or reduce your toxic load. The choice is yours. The power is yours.

Why Superfoods?

“Some foods are deficient in minerals and key nutrients, while other foods are packed with a powerhouse of valuable nutrients that can change your life, your health, and your body in a truly incredible way.”
David Wolfe, Longevity Now: A Comprehensive Approach to Healthy Hormones, Detoxification, Super Immunity, Reversing Calcification, and Total Rejuvenation

One of the easiest ways to get started is with superfoods. Superfoods are foods that offer high nutrient density, meaning a high nutrient to calorie ratio. They are the opposite of an empty calorie food. If you remember, empty-calorie foods have lots of calories and little to no nutritional value.

Superfoods don’t have to be exotic foods from around the world. They don’t have to be expensive or hard to find. There are plenty of superfoods in your local grocery store, in your garden, and at the Farmer’s Markets.

One of the best things about superfoods is they are usually delicious and filling. Because they are so packed with nutrition, your body is quickly satisfied.

Superfoods pack a double punch. They give your body much-needed nutrition AND they help you release unwanted toxins.

4 Superfoods That Will Boost Your Fertility

Bananas

How easily accessible are bananas? You can find them everywhere and they are so inexpensive. When they start to go brown, you can save them by peeling and freezing them. You can use the frozen bananas in smoothies or make non-dairy ice creams with them.

Bananas are a good source of potassium and vitamin B6. They help regulate your hormones and ensure proper egg production. They also help with sperm counts and strength and are therefore seen as a superfood.

Almonds

Almonds are a superfood that are easily accessible and fairly inexpensive. You can save more money by buying them in bulk. Avoid processed, roasted, salted and seasoned almonds. Buy them raw and roast them at home. Almonds and bananas make a perfect snack. They are both easily portable, filling and highly nutritious. Almond butter is another way to get the nutritional benefits of almonds.

Almonds are full of omega-3 fatty acids, folate, protein, vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants that help boost fertility for both women and men.

Citrus Fruits

Citrus fruits including oranges, lemons, limes, tangerines, clementines and grapefruits are easily accessible and affordable foods that help detoxify your body and boost your fertility.

Adding lemon juice to your water is a simple, but powerful way to help your body rid itself of unwanted toxins.

Citrus fruits are high in vitamin C which improves sperm quality and helps keep sperm from clumping together.  The nutrients in citrus fruits help with overall health and boost the immune system for both men and women.

Throw a couple oranges or clementines into your bag before you leave the house and snack on them throughout the day.

Grapefruits are also very nutritious and detoxifying. If you don’t love their bitter taste, try drizzling some raw honey on them. It adds amazing flavor and raw honey has enzymes in it that help you better digest the grapefruit.

Citrus fruits also help boost your mood and energy. If you are dealing with infertility, you probably need all the help you can get right now.

Avocados

Avocados are probably the best food to add to your diet to increase your fertility. Take a look at an avocado cut in half. What does it look like? A pregnant belly. There’s a reason for that!

Avocados are rich in healthy fats that help stabilize hormones. They also contain fiber, antioxidants, folate, vitamin A, and potassium which all help boost fertility.

Avocados are easily accessible, but not inexpensive.  If you buy a ripe avocado and don’t use it right away, it will go bad quickly. Look for avocados that are firm and under-ripe. Let them ripen on the counter for a few days. If they start to ripen before you are ready to use them, you can put them in the refrigerator for a few days. If they start to ripen and you know you won’t use them soon, you can freeze them. Peel and slice them and put them in a freezer bag. You can add frozen avocados to smoothies for some amazing creaminess and health benefits.

There is Hope

If you or a loved one is suffering from infertility, please remember you are not alone, it’s not your fault and you are not powerless. You can support your body to become more fertile. You can start with something as simple as what is on the end of your fork.

“Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all.”
Emily Dickinson
