50 Affirmations to Build Confidence in Kids

What are affirmations?

Affirmations are positive statements intended to counteract unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Generally, affirmations are spoken out loud as a way of declaring the statement to ourselves and the world around us. This act can be done individually, or as a family and can offer benefits such as increased positive thinking and bringing greater unity and common vision to a group.

I find it best to start with 1-10 affirmations that particularly speak to the struggles within an individual’s life in the current season and repeat those affirmations daily. You can then adjust the affirmations as often as necessary, taking out any that no longer serve a purpose and adding new statements speaking to a more timely issue.

To create an affirmation routine, choose a regular time (or times) that work for your family and practice saying your affirmations at that same point each day. First thing in the morning, on the car ride to school, or at bedtime are some common practices. You can even combine affirmations with other positive grounding rituals such as daily prayer, applying essential oils or mealtimes.
