Touch-a-Truck Events mean one thing- WARM weather is FINALLY here! Do you have a little one that has a fascination with big trucks, tractors and all things vehicles? These are the events for you! This is a unique way to get up close and personal with your favorite vehicles! Mark your calendars for these interactive events all around Central Ohio. Many dates are already set for the season, but be sure to check back as we add events to this list for the 2019 season.

Powell Touch a Truck: Friday, May 3, 2019: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. | Dozens of vehicles will fill the area around Adventure Park. This event also does double duty by educating youngsters about various aspects of the vehicles, such as their size, function and more!

Polaris Military Appreciation Touch A Truck: Saturday, May 4, 2019: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Polaris Mall | Join Sunny 95, Mr. Sunny and all of your favorite BIG Military Vehicles that will be at Polaris Fashion Place. There will be trucks and vehicles of all sizes from the National Guard, Air Force, US Army and Marines – EOD vehicles, Hum-Vs, Air-Flight Simulators and more will be there! Bring the whole family for cool military vehicles and programs, cold treats from the Sunny 95 Treat Truck, prizes and fun!

Pickerington Touch a Truck: Saturday, May 11, 2019: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | Bring your kids to enjoy a variety of big trucks, cars, engines and more. You will be able to get up close to check out the big tires, ask questions about what each vehicle does, test the driver’s seat and even get your own driver’s license.

YMCA Healthy Kids Day: Saturday, May 11, 2019: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Scioto Audubon Metro Park | This is a big event with lots of free family fun! In addition to the touch-a-truck, highlights include gaga pits, inflatables, face painting, photo booth, interactive fitness, food trucks and many vendors. Columbus Moms Blog will be there with a booth, so stop on over to say hello!

YMCA Healthy Kids Day

Worthington Touch a Truck: Friday, May 17, 2019: 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Worthington Community Center | The 8th Annual Touch a Truck is a unique and interactive event that allows children to see, touch, and safely explore their favorite big trucks and heavy machinery, as well as to meet the personnel who protect, serve, and build the Worthington community. Over 40 vehicles will be on display, along with a variety of other children’s activities. Admission is free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. There will also be a food drive! Please bring a canned or non-perishable food item to help them “Stuff the Truck” for the Worthington Food Pantry.

Hilliard Mini Touch a Truck: Friday, May 17, 2019: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Hilliard Station Park | Bring your children to see, touch and explore some of their favorite vehicles: fire truck, semi truck, police car, school bus and more. 

Canal Winchester Touch a Truck: Friday, May 17, 2019: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Stradley Park | Bring the kids out to TOUCH-A-TRUCK! There will be trucks and cars from police & fire! **The May Music in the Park concert (formerly held as part of the Music & Art in the Park Summer Concert Series) has been replaced with this exciting new event! Touch-A-Truck will feature vehicles from Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, Madison Township Police Department, and Madison Township Fire Department and music with emcee Mike Walker.

Grove City Touch a Truck: Saturday, May 18, 2019: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | Lots of activities for the kiddos and sensitivity hour/quiet break at 11 a.m. Check their website for updates on vehicles to see! 

Dublin Experience Public Works Day: Saturday, May 18, 2019: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Dublin Service Complex | They take the “Touch a Truck” concept to the next level with a combination of family fun, food and convenient services. 

Upper Arlington Touch a Truck: Saturday, May 18, 2019: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. | There will be inflatable games, arts and crafts, live music at this touch a truck event! Bring the family out for some fun! Annual fishing derby as well! 

Prairie Township Touch a Truck: Saturday, May 18, 2019: 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. | Come out to the Prairie Township Community Center and climb around in some of the vehicles that help keep the Township safe and running smooth.

COSI EMS and Safety Day: SundayMay 19, 2019: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at COSI | Get a first-hand look at the operations of local police officers, firefighters, and other first responders. Take a seat inside a cruiser, or watch while the Columbus Fire Department uses the Jaws of Life during a mock crash. 
Free with COSI admission or membership!

June Touch-a-Truck Events

Ostrander Annual Touch a Truck Event: June 8, 2019 from 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. at DCEMS Station in Ostrander: This event is free and sponsored by the MOMS Club of Delaware. See big and small trucks and meet the people who operate them. 

Dublin Wet Suits and Way-Cool Trucks: Friday, June 14, 2019: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | Tour Sparky’s Fire House, climb inside the fire and medic truck, and watch the firefighters dive into the recreation center pool. 

August Touch-a-Truck Events 

Franklin County Engineer’s Office Touch a Truck: Friday, August 9, 2019 at Dublin Road Location | Website will be updated with more information closer to the event. 

Berlin Township Annual Touch a Truck EventSaturday, August 10, 2019: 10:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. | See big and small trucks and meet the people who operate them. Free. Website and Facebook will be updated soon. 

Easter Seals Touch a Truck: Typically in August at Easter Seals in Hilliard | From 2018: Fire trucks, police cars, and much more. Free event but tickets will be sold for bounce houses and snacks to benefit the Easter Seals! A sensitive time from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Date has not been set this year. 

New Albany Touch a Truck: Saturday, August 17, 2019: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | The event features farm equipment, service vehicles, activities for the family and lunch!

Clintonville Chamber of Commerce Car Show/Cruise-In and Touch a Truck: Saturday, August 17, 2019: 9:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m. | Classic cars, Touch-a-Truck, Food Vendors and Business Showcase.

Touch a Truck Gahanna – Typically in August | More information to come! 

September Touch-a-Truck Events 

Westerville Cop and Kids Day: September 15, 2019: 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. | There will be cruisers, motorcycles, and S.W.A.T. vehicles on display, and the kids can meet various officers from agencies throughout the state of Ohio. Kids will enjoy games, police-related scenarios, and other fun activities including a “Dunk-a-Cop” tank. This event will take place at the Westerville Sports Complex. 

October Touch-a-Truck Events

Monroe Township Fire Department Open House: Details to come but the 2019 event is set for October! 

National Fire Prevention Week is in October and many firehouses host events that are free and open to the public. Each fire station is different, but many offer the opportunity to see the various fire trucks and equipment, living areas, talk to a firefighter, Sparky the mascot often makes an appearance and more. 


Be on the lookout for events added towards the end of summer and fall! Have a wonderful time as your kiddos explore the big machines! If there are any Touch-a-Truck events that we missed, please feel free to comment!

Maureen Ingham has enjoyed living in the great city of Columbus for nearly 13 years! Originally from Canton, Ohio, Maureen attended Ohio University and will always be a bobcat at heart! After completing her education degree in Athens, she made her way to The Ohio State University to obtain a Masters degree in Special Education. She fell in love with Columbus then and convinced her now husband to join her in this awesome city! She taught 5th grade for 6 years, before deciding to stay home to raise two beautiful girls. Their family has recently moved to Worthington with their two girls and are excited to plant their roots here! Their first daughter, Maeve is 6 and her sister, Reese will soon be 5 years old. They welcomed a son, Miles in March 2020. Maureen has been with The Columbus Moms Blog since the beginning and now enjoys working on editing and events for the blog. She also works as a Postpartum Doula with her sister at a company called Together Wee Grow. They provide night nursing services, as well as daytime support to local families and babies in Columbus. It is a wonderful job to work along her sister and help families with their precious little ones in a vulnerable time period. In between the night shifts, sweeping up crumbs, exploring Columbus, and getting kids to where they need to be, Maureen enjoys working out, trying new recipes and restaurants, traveling, spending time with family, being crafty and trying to help others whenever she can! Maureen has many Columbus favorites. Her go-to restaurant is Third and Hollywood, she enjoys a sweet treat at Sassafrass Bakery or Fox in the Snow, a slice of pizza at Dewey's Pizza and a warm cup of joe at Highline Coffee. A perfect Saturday involves an outdoor activity with her family and trying a new restaurant when they can! She is excited to be a part of an excellent team here at Columbus Moms blog and hopes to be able to inspire mothers that small acts of kindness go a long way in raising their kids and the city they live in!
