Mother’s Day Brunch in Cbus

0

Everyone has their own traditions on Mother’s Day. Some moms like a simple breakfast in bed, some want a quiet morning at the coffee shop by themselves, and many enjoy a big brunch with family. If that’s the case, check out some of my recommendations for family-friendly brunch spots in Columbus.

Please note that many places will require reservations and also price changes often occur on special days like Mother’s Day. Make sure to ask if the price will be different from a regular business day. Happy Mother’s Day, Columbus mamas!

Mozart’s baked goods

Mozart’s (Clintonville)
Mozart’s specializes in large events, beautiful European pastries, and having piano accompaniment alongside your meal. Mozart’s is great for a multi-generational party with grandparents and kids alike. You will be tempted to take one of everything home from the pastry case, but I recommend the petit fours and apple strudel.

Cap City Diner (Grandview)
Any Cameron Mitchell restaurant will have you covered for quality food and wonderful service, but Cap City Diner is especially family and budget friendly. My mom and I love the meatloaf platter, and the desserts are generous and great for sharing (or not). Kids love the huge gumball machine in the lobby, and the atmosphere is lively enough that you won’t feel out of place with your crew.
Matt The Miller’s (Grandview, Polaris, Dublin)
We have had their brunch several times, and it is always a hit with the whole group. Buffets are so convenient for kids, so they can choose their food and eat it immediately. They even have a little table set aside with kids favorites, like mac and cheese and chicken fingers. My favorite is the made to order omelet station and the waffle bar.

J.Liu (Dublin, Worthington)
The J. Liu buffet is fabulous because it combines classic American fare with Chinese favorites. Take a little crab rangoon and a little french toast, an eggs benedict, and an egg roll. If the weather is nice enough, there is a beautiful patio, and you can walk across the street to Jeni’s for dessert!
The North Market (Short North)

Everyone can get what they want at the North Market, from Hot Chicken Takeover (our family favorite), to pho, Polish and Italian dishes, to the luxuriously healthy Little Eater items. Don’t forget a little gift box of macarons from Pistacia Vera and some Destination Donuts for Monday morning!

Hot Chicken Takeover at North Market

For a casual brunch, a delicious bakery, and a full coffee bar, give The Market a try. You can browse their shelves for unique finds to take home for dinner that night, too. Their menu changes seasonally, and this spring I would love to try the waffles. Coffee is from Thunderkiss and baked goods from The Angry Baker, two Columbus favorites!

Columbus Brewing Company (Brewery District)

CBC is known for being family-friendly and for having an all-encompassing menu that is sure to please everyone. Their desserts are made in-house, and there is a wide variety of colorful brunch cocktails.  They have large tables and can accommodate larger parties than some of the other choices (and check out that curtained patio!)

Northstar Cafe (many locations)
Northstar has a devoted following in Columbus, and with several locations, it is convenient for many families. If you choose the Easton location, you can shop before or after, and if you choose Beechwold, you can celebrate with neighboring Jeni’s ice cream!  The ham and cheese scones are incredible, fresh squeezed juice is refreshing, and you won’t feel so stuffed that you can’t function for the rest of the day. This would be your quickest, healthiest option.

Pancake balls and syrup at Katalina’s

Katalina’s (Harrison West)

I couldn’t leave out my personal favorite, Katalina’s. If you are seeking something special, check it out (but be ready to wait for a table and a parking spot). There are parks nearby to keep the kids busy while you wait. The vibrant patio is the perfect place to indulge in Nutella pancake balls and maple bacon. That’s right; I said Nutella pancake balls.

Piada (many locations)

Piada caught our eye with their Mother’s Day promotion: Bring in a homemade Mother’s Day card, and mom receives one free entree (bowl, piada, or salad!). This would be a great option if you have a busy day ahead or if Piada is the one place where you AND your kids can find something you love. PS- some locations now serve amazing gelato!
