The weather is dreamy on a perfect summer night. Are you looking for a new activity to try with your family? Enter Movies Under the Stars!

There are numerous sites around the city, that you could even try a new spot each week! You can catch movies in Pickerington, Hilliard, Easton, Grove City, New Albany, Upper Arlington, Bexley, Galena, and even Zoombezi Bay!

We have quite a list for you this year and the best news is that many of the showings are free admission. Don’t forget a blanket or a lawn chair and the popcorn. These events are ones you won’t want to miss!

Metro Parks Movie Nights

When: Begins on June 3 and continues into October.

June 3: Croods: A New Age (Glacier Ridge Metro Park)

July 15: How To Train Your Dragon (Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park)

August 19: Encanto (Sharon Woods Metro Park)

August 27: Spider Man: No Way Home (Blendon Woods Metro Park)

September 9: Luca (Blacklick Woods Golf Course)

September 17: Top Gun (Highbank Metro Park)

October 21: Ghostbusters (Sharon Woods Metro Park)

Where: The Metro Park location changes

Details: The movies begin at dark. Refreshments are provided.

New Albany Summer Movie Series

When: Begins June 25 (one per month). Encanto kicks off the season! Festivities will begin at 6:00 pm. The movie will start around 9pm. July 15 showing Sing 2 and August 12 showing is yet to be determined.

Where: Different spot each month in New Albany

Details: Balloon Benders, Giant Checkers, Giant Connect 4, and Human Billiards with Special Appearances by Mirabel, Isabela, Luisa, Dolores, and Bruno from Paulette’s Princess Parties

Grove City Community Drive In

When: Community Drive-in Movie Series this summer on Wednesdays at The Naz from June 22-July 27, 2022.

Where: The Naz Church

Details: Movies are shown on a large scree! You can get refreshments at The Naz Cafe or bring snacks and beverages. Click here for movie schedule or scroll down for all movies day by day. They plan to be showing Luca, Tom and Jerry, Encanto, Space Jam, Spiderman, and Sing 2.

Where: The Naz parking lot, 4770 Hoover Road, at 8:00 p.m. Snacks are available beforehand.

Details: Experience the joy of movie watching in the great outdoors. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and snacks to enhance your movie-watching experience. If a movie is cancelled due to inclement weather (rain or winds over 15mph), it will not be rescheduled (weather hotline: 614-583-5345).

Galena Movies Under the Stars

Where: McNamara Park

Details: For two evenings each summer neighbors come together at McNamara Park to watch a movie under the stars. Bring a picnic, chair, blanket, bug spray and family for a new release that starts at dusk.

Zoombezi Bay Movie Nights

Details: Guests can extend their stay until 11 pm and enjoy certain attractions, there will be island fun with animals, music, character ambassadors and a movie on the jumbo screen.

Maureen Ingham has enjoyed living in the great city of Columbus for nearly 13 years! Originally from Canton, Ohio, Maureen attended Ohio University and will always be a bobcat at heart! After completing her education degree in Athens, she made her way to The Ohio State University to obtain a Masters degree in Special Education. She fell in love with Columbus then and convinced her now husband to join her in this awesome city! She taught 5th grade for 6 years, before deciding to stay home to raise two beautiful girls. Their family has recently moved to Worthington with their two girls and are excited to plant their roots here! Their first daughter, Maeve is 6 and her sister, Reese will soon be 5 years old. They welcomed a son, Miles in March 2020. Maureen has been with The Columbus Moms Blog since the beginning and now enjoys working on editing and events for the blog. She also works as a Postpartum Doula with her sister at a company called Together Wee Grow. They provide night nursing services, as well as daytime support to local families and babies in Columbus. It is a wonderful job to work along her sister and help families with their precious little ones in a vulnerable time period. In between the night shifts, sweeping up crumbs, exploring Columbus, and getting kids to where they need to be, Maureen enjoys working out, trying new recipes and restaurants, traveling, spending time with family, being crafty and trying to help others whenever she can! Maureen has many Columbus favorites. Her go-to restaurant is Third and Hollywood, she enjoys a sweet treat at Sassafrass Bakery or Fox in the Snow, a slice of pizza at Dewey's Pizza and a warm cup of joe at Highline Coffee. A perfect Saturday involves an outdoor activity with her family and trying a new restaurant when they can! She is excited to be a part of an excellent team here at Columbus Moms blog and hopes to be able to inspire mothers that small acts of kindness go a long way in raising their kids and the city they live in!
