Blendon Woods contains spectacular stream-cut ravines with exposed ripple rock sandstone and open fields surrounded by beech-maple and oak-hickory forests. The 118-acre Walden Waterfowl Refuge with its 11-acre Thoreau Lake provides a sanctuary for hundreds of birds, ducks and other wildlife. Seeds of Caring is an organization that creates service, social action, and community- building experiences for kids and the grown ups who care for them. McCord Park is 25-acres and located adjacent to the Worthington Community Center. It was built primarily as an athletic complex and is home to various sports leagues and activities. The park features softball fields, a soccer field, basketball court, two playgrounds, tot lot, a Community Garden and a shelter house that includes restrooms and picnic tables.
12 person hot tub and zero entry leisure pool area equipped with a kiddie slide and play features extending to a three and a half foot play area attached to a lazy river. Open swim time for members and day passes are available.
The 1.4-acre Heischman Park is located along Worthington-Galena Road. This small neighborhood park includes a playground, tot lot, picnic tables and a drinking fountain. The playground was renovated in 2016. Now utilized by neighboring residents, we know that pioneers traveled this way before. While digging in some flower beds, a parks crew technician found an old iron horseshoe from times past.
