February is here! With a mild winter so far, could this be the month we get hit with snow? Whatever happens, don’t let the cold and often dreary month of February keep you from having fun! We’ve rounded up some of the best activities going on in Columbus this month. As we find additional events we will update the list, so be sure to check back throughout the month.

February 1-7

February 1: National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day: 7:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. at Cookie Dough Creamery | Wear your pajamas and enter the photo contest to win gift cards. The Worthington Farmers Market opens at 9 a.m. right next door!

February 1: National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Jeni’s | All Jeni’s scoop shops will open early and from 8 a.m. to noon, 100% of profits will be donated to DoSomething, a digital platform empowering offline action for young people interested in creating social change. Jeni’s will also be partnering with local coffee shops to offer Coffee Floats ($10) — hot coffee with a scoop of ice cream.

February 1: Heart String Art: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Home Depot | Create a loving memory with your child at our Heart String Art Workshop. As you help your child piece together the symbol of Valentine’s Day, they will develop hands-on skills by sanding, nailing, painting and more. Celebrate the moment as your child makes a unique keepsake. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron and a commemorative pin while supplies last

February 1: Pete the Cat: 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at The Abbey Theater of Dublin | This is a one-act musical that lasts 60 minutes with no intermission. Recommended for preschool and up.

February 1, 8, 15, 22: Kids Club Crafts: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Michael’s | 12 spots available for each class so be sure to use the link to register and check availability. They craft, you shop! $2 per child.

February 1, 8, 15, 22: Free Crafts for Kids: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Lakeshore Learning | Each week children can make and take home a special craft. FREE

February 1: Teddy Bear Victorian Tea Party at FPC: Choose your time slot from 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. | Bring your favorite stuffed animal to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the palm house with tea sandwiches to enjoy and take home a craft.

February 1: Chilly Open: 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at The Columbus Zoo | The Chilly Open is an annual wintertime fundraising event to raise money and increase awareness for children’s charities in Central Ohio. The event takes place at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and is hosted by Woody Johnson of 92.3 WCOL. This family-oriented event has helped raise over $3 million for area children’s charities.

February 1- February 28: Turtle Odyssey at COSI: 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. at COSI | Come enjoy a movie on the Big Screen!

February 1-2: Disney on Ice: Various Times at Nationwide Arena | Get your tickets today!

February 1- March 8: Orchids at Franklin Park Conservatory: The Conservatory has transformed into an ecological utopia with their orchid exhibit! Come experience the beauty!

February 1: Short North Gallery Hop: 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. | The first Saturday of every month is the much anticipated Gallery Hop. Businesses stay open later, there’s lots of art and exhibits to look at, as well as food and drinks.

February 1: Give the Girl the Mic: 6:30 p.m. at The Lincoln Theater | This talent showcase welcomes girls from all over the community to grab the mic and take the stage.

February 1: Parents Just Don’t Understand: Showtimes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at Hilliard Davidson High School Theater | Come out and see the show!

February 2: Mommy and Me Walk: 11:00 a.m. at Polaris Fashion Place | Fun Mom & family walk to start the Columbus Baby & Kids Expo! Help them raise funds for Columbus Diaper Bank at this .5, 1 or 2 mile walk!

February 2: Sweet Treats Dessert Festival: 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at The Exchange at Bridge Park | Tickets are $15 for a 2-hour time slot and also early bird tickets are available for $25. Enjoy treats from the best of Columbus like Jeni’s Ice cream, The Cheesecake Girl, Short North Piece of Cake and many more! Live entertainment, cash bar, and shopping will also be on site.

February 2: Kidslinked Baby & Kids Galleria Event: 12:00 p.m. -5:00 p.m. at Polaris Fashion Place | Browse, shop. and learn all things *Baby & Kids* at this showcase for expectant parents and families with young children.

February 2: Inside Outpost at Winter Flea: 12:00 p.m. at Strongwater | Columbus Flea organizes indoor & outdoor flea markets several times throughout the year. All Fleas feature friends from the neighborhood (and slightly beyond) selling a wide variety of textiles, ceramics, records, plants, handmade jewelry, original artwork, antiques, vintage clothing and more. February 3- 4: Puppet Show at Blendon Woods: 9:30 a.m. | Various times on both days! Meet at the nature center.

February 3: Tiny Chef Mondays at Franklin Park Conservatory: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at FPC | Do you have a tiny human at home that loves to help in the kitchen? Join FPC for their amazing and fun-filled weekly adventure into the culinary arts with children 3–5 years old. Menu and topic change weekly. Each week they get hands-on, learn new skills and make a mess in the best possible way! $20 per class or $70 for the month session.

February 4: Musical Storytime at Cub Shrub: 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. | This is a free event but you need to register!

February 4: The Lumineers: 7:00 p.m. at Schottenstein | Prepare for a great show!

February 4-5: Shen Yun: 7:30 p.m. at The Ohio Theater | Experience a lost culture through the incredible art of classical Chinese dance, and see legends come to life. Shen Yun makes this possible by pushing the boundaries of the performing arts, with a unique blend of stunning costuming, high-tech backdrops, and an orchestra like no other. Be prepared for a theatrical experience that will take your breath away!

February 5: Wild Story Time: 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. at the Ohio Wildlife Center | Listen to a wildlife book and then make a craft. Visit with animal ambassadors and walk around the grounds. $5 for adults and children 5 and under are free.

February 5: 1st Wednesday in Worthington: 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in Old Worthington | This month’s theme is The Big Chill! Shops are open and special events fill Old Worthington on the first Wednesday of each month!

February 5: Valentine’s Dinner with Belle: 6:00 p.m. at Mellow Mushroom | Princess Belle will be making a magical appearance for a Special Valentines Dinner with her favorite little Princesses at the Mellow Mushroom in New Albany! First come, first serve and no reservation needed.

February 5: Dancing with the Stars Live: 7:30 p.m. at The Palace Theater | Come see your favorite stars dance the night away!

February 6: Franklin Park Conservatory Nature Storytime: 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. | Free with admission and for ages 3-5.

February 6: COSI after Dark: 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. at COSI | It’s COSI without kids! Dinosaurs aren’t just for kids. Walk among giants in the American Museum of Natural History Dinosaur Gallery and enjoy dinosaur-themed activities.

February 6-7: The Illusionists: Various showtimes at The Palace Theater | THE ILLUSIONISTS – LIVE FROM BROADWAY™ has shattered box office records across the globe and dazzles audiences of all ages with a powerful mix of the most outrageous and astonishing acts ever to be seen on stage. This non-stop show is packed with thrilling and sophisticated magic of unprecedented proportions.

February 7-9: Fishing Expo: 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday | It’s three days of sport fishing education and fun at the Columbus Fishing Expo! It includes a jam-packed schedule of educational seminars, speakers, and activities!

February 7: Daddy Daughter Dance: 6:30 p.m. at Groveport Recreation Center | Girls, get ready to go for a jungle adventure with your dad, grandpa, uncle or older brother for their 8th Annual Daddy Daughter Dance for ALL ages! This year the theme is: Wild Night-Safari

February 7: Family Nights: 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Worthington Community Center | Free activities (arts, crafts, open gym time).

February 7: Fantastic Mr. Fox: 7:00 p.m. at Hilliard Darby High School |  Roald Dahl’s much-loved story follows the vain attempts of three farmers, Boggis, Bunce and Bean, one fat, one short, one lean, to get rid of the fox who regularly steals food from their farms.

February 8: Super Powers at COSI: A new exhibit opens until May at COSI! Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman need YOU to help them battle crime and fight for justice in DC SUPER HEROES: Discover Your Superpowers. In this exhibit, at COSI from February 8 – May 25, 2020, guests can save the city, vie with villains, and work as a team to restore order across the DC universe.

February 8: Fantastic Mr. Fox: 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Hilliard Darby High School | Roald Dahl’s much-loved story follows the vain attempts of three farmers, Boggis, Bunce and Bean, one fat, one short, one lean, to get rid of the fox who regularly steals food from their farms. (Also on February 7 at 7:00 p.m.)

February 8PBJ & Jazz: 10:00 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. at the Lincoln Theatre | Children receive a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, cookie, and juice at this jazz performance. $5 per person with a maximum of $20 per family.

February 8: Family Yoga: 11:00 a.m. at Lane Branch Library | Licensed social worker & yoga instructor, Brianna Schiavoni will show how yoga can work for your whole family. Explore how play-based yoga can be fun for all ages!

February 8: Art with Anna: 11:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. in Bexley | Make a Hot and cool Heart Love project! Ages 3 and up with an adult! $5 per additional artist. There is also a baby class held from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.

February 8: Chocolate Walk in Downtown Delaware: 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. | Stop in each business for a tasty treat! $15 per couple ticket.

February 8: Daddy’s Little Girl YMCA Daughter Dance: 5:30 p.m. -8:00 p.m. | DJ & dancing, FREE photo, craft, snack, raffle & 50:50! Join in the fun at Licking Heights high school!

February 8: Miracles and Magic: 7:30 p.m. at The Lincoln Theater | The Premier Comedy Magic & Illusion show in the Midwest returns for its 15th year in Columbus! Featuring the world’s best touring magicians, illusionists and variety entertainers, this family-friendly show is always new and a Columbus tradition.

February 9: Valentine’s Day Tea Party: 1:00 at The Glass Slipper | Reservations are required. The main course will be chicken salad on croissants and cucumber tea sandwiches. They will also have turkey and cheese tea sandwiches for any children who attend. Desserts will be Valentine’s treats and goodies! Tea and pink tea (pink lemonade) will be served!

February 11: Valentine’s Day Cookie Decorating & Chocolate Covered Strawberries: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at 1400 Food Lab | This is a fun way to create a gift for a loved one! 20 spots in the class

February 13: KSM Sports Open Play and Songs with Minnie Mouse: 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at KSM | Come to a special open play at KSM to celebrate Valentine’s Day with Minnie Mouse! Come to KSM for some Valentine’s love and fun! Minnie Mouse will be at KSM from 10:00AM- 11:00AM to take pictures, sing and play with the kids. Get your tickets today!

February 13: Old Worthington Chocolate Walk: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. along the historic business district of Worthington | The Worthington Partnership invites you to our 4th annual Chocolate Walk on Thursday, February 13, 2020. This popular event is a sweet stroll through our beautiful historic business district. With your $20 ticket, you will receive vouchers to redeem for treats at least 15 businesses. Each business thoughtfully prepares a chocolate treat for you to experience their business in a unique, yummy way.

February 14: Rocking your Red Valentine Skate: 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Skate 71 | Bring the entire family for great food and fun on the roller rink.

February 14: Valentine’s Day at White Castle: 4:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. at most locations | White Castle goes all out for this special annual event with decorations, someone to seat you, take your order at the table and more. Make reservations if you don’t want to miss this tradition.

February 14: Poppy and Branch’s Valentine’s Party Skate: 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. at Skate Zone 71 | Meet and Greet with Poppy and Branch and then skate! Can’t stop the feeling! $10 per person includes pizza.

February 14-16: Alice The Ballet: Various times at The Ohio Theater | ALICE is a full-length ballet. A full-length ballet is one ballet with intermissions, similar to a book with chapters.

February 14: Family Night: 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m at The Worthington Community Center | Leave the electronics at home and come out to connect as a family!

February 14-16: Valentine’s Carriage Rides at Easton: Horse-drawn carriage rides will be offered for Valentine’s Day and the weekend thereafter at Easton in the North District and through Fenlon Square. The cost is $10 per person. Children under 15 ride free with paying adult.

February 15-23

February 15: All Ohio Reptile Show: 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. at Franklin County Fairgrounds | Come out and see your favorite scaly friends!

February 15: Author and Illustrator Jason Tharrp: 10:00 a.m. at Cover to Cover | Author and illustrator Jason Tharp will join in for storytime and the launch of his new book It’s Okay To Be A Unicorn —an inspiring story about the rainbow magic of kindness.

February 15: Uptown Cookie Walk: 12:00 p.m in Uptown Westerville | Join us in Uptown Westerville for the third annual Uptown Cookie Walk. Participants will visit 24 locations to get a Cheryl’s Gourmet Cookie at each location. $12 per ticket!

February 15: Friends and Cookies: 3:30 p.m. at Dublin Toy Emporium | Let’s HAVE A “CONVERSATION”
you & your friend will get to decorate 3 cookies each, and go on a “Friendship Hunt” in the toy store! They ask that you take all 3 cookies home. You will have nibblets to num on while you decorate. $35 (PARENT/CHILD)

February 17: Zoo Day: 9:00 a.m. at Westerville Christian Church | Bring the family to an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast followed by a presentation by the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium. The cost for this event includes breakfast and the Zoo’s presentation. Space is limited. The deadline for preregistration is February 13. COST: Preregistered (before February 13): $4/person

February 17: KidX Club Polaris Bestie Bash: 11:00 a.m. -12:30 p.m. at Polaris Mall | Ready for a blast from the past? Coloring pages, crafts, face painting, a balloon artist, entertainers, and so much more! Bring your kiddos and their besties, and spend some time together craftin’ up a storm at this super cool, FREE KidX event

February 21: Blippi Live: 6:00 p.m. at The Palace Theater | You and your whole family are going to have so much fun, dancing, singing and meeting amazing new friends LIVE on stage in your town!

February 21-23: Matilda: 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday | Get your tickets today!

February 22: Breakfast with Characters: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at The English House | Choose from two different time slots. Tickets are $25. Come celebrate with your favorite princesses, superheroes, and movie characters. The Junior League of Columbus presents A Breakfast with Characters. Children of all ages can meet and mingle with their favorite characters. Enjoy food! Entertainment! Crafts!

February 22: Maple Sugar Time: 10:00 a.m. at Stratford Ecological Center | Discover the wonder of this local Ohio natural food. Join their experienced Sugar Cookers for a hands-on experience in the sugar bush. Learn how to tap a maple tree, help collect sap, experience the evaporation process in the sugar shack, while spending time in Stratford’s beautiful forest!

February 22: Youth Savings Event at Ohio Credit Union: 10:00 a.m – 11:30 a.m. | The Credit Union will be hosting a free Youth Savings Event where they will be providing information about their Youth Savings products including the new SaVeHicle Bank. SaVeHicle is a personal bank for kids shaped like a car and designed to help teach children about distinguishing saving, spending, and giving money. Attendees will be able to pick up a SaVeHicle for each existing or newly opened. * Youth Savings account with Credit Union of Ohio. You must RSVP in order to attend this event as space is limited (*In order to open a new Youth Savings account, a copy of the child’s social security card will be needed.”) RSVP for the event HERE.

February 22- March 1Home & Garden Show: at various times each day (closed on Tuesday) at Ohio Expo Center & State Fair (Bricker Building, Celeste Center) | Columbus artists meet landscape designers! Start planning your home improvement project.

February 23: The Big Taste of Fitness: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Vue Columbus | Various “tastes” of fitness classes are offered at this event. Tickets are limited.

February 23: Blippi Visit at We Rock The Spectrum: 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. | Join them for an afternoon of fun with Blippi. Blippi will be here from 12:30-1:30 to zip, swing and play with our ROCKIN’ friends! There will be photo opportunities as well so make sure to bring your camera! The cost is $20 per child and a registration deposit of $10 is required.

February 23: Worthington Weddings: Noon to 4:00 p.m. at The Worthington Community Center | Free Bridal Show. Your dream wedding begins here!

February 24-29

February 26: Dinner with Ariel at Mellow Mushroom: 6:00 p.m. at Polaris | Come dine with Ariel!

February 27: Mocktails and Cupcakes: 6:00 p.m. at Our Cupcakery | Participants will learn the tricks of the trade for decorating and filling high-end cupcakes. You’ll decorate cupcakes with these flavors while sipping of refreshing drinks! Tickets are $59.

February 28: Friday Family Night at COSI: 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. | On the last Friday of every month, after 5:00 p.m., COSI offers extended hours and price reduced admission to families so you can visit, learn and play late.

February 28-March 1: Mama Mia: 7:00 p.m. at The Palace Theater | Come see this classic!

February 28-March 1:Aladdin Jr.: 7:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday | Presented by Hilliard Memorial Performing Arts!

February 29: Maple Sugar Time: 10:00 a.m. at Blendon Woods | Drop by Blendon Woods’ Sugarbush Day Camp area for a demonstration of maple syrup making. All ages.

Ongoing Activities

Mondays – Thursdays: Toddler Explore & Play10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Pickaway Place | Bring your little one for some fun and games, storytime, music, guided crafts, large motor movement and more! The Toddler Explorer’s is loosely guided from 10-11 a.m. and is open play from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids are $5 each and snacks are available at 11 a.m. for .50$ each.

Tuesdays: $5 Tuesdays: Watch the latest movies for $5 admission and enjoy $2 hot dogs and $2 candy with a beverage purchase. Be sure to visit the link for more details at Marcus Theaters.

Tuesdays, Wednesday, ThursdaysCharitable Play at Recreations Outlet: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. $4 per child

Wednesdays: Pajama Story Time: 7:00 p.m. – 7: 30 p.m. at Northwest Library in Worthington | Children five and under will enjoy the interactive rhymes, songs, and stories.

Tuesdays & Thursdays: Toddler Time with Get Air at Tree of Life Play + Cafe: 10 – 11 a.m. at Get Air and then a daily admission to Tree of Life Play + Cafe.

Tuesdays and Thursdays: Toddler Time at KSM Sports: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. fro $6 and $3 for each additional sibling.

Tuesdays: Toddler Tuesdays: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. (Labor Day-Memorial Day) at Magic Mountain Fun Centers | Enjoy unlimited KidsGym plus 10 arcade tickets for $2.50 per person.

Maureen Ingham
Maureen Ingham has enjoyed living in the great city of Columbus for nearly 13 years! Originally from Canton, Ohio, Maureen attended Ohio University and will always be a bobcat at heart! After completing her education degree in Athens, she made her way to The Ohio State University to obtain a Masters degree in Special Education. She fell in love with Columbus then and convinced her now husband to join her in this awesome city! She taught 5th grade for 6 years, before deciding to stay home to raise two beautiful girls. Their family has recently moved to Worthington with their two girls and are excited to plant their roots here! Their first daughter, Maeve is 6 and her sister, Reese will soon be 5 years old. They welcomed a son, Miles in March 2020. Maureen has been with The Columbus Moms Blog since the beginning and now enjoys working on editing and events for the blog. She also works as a Postpartum Doula with her sister at a company called Together Wee Grow. They provide night nursing services, as well as daytime support to local families and babies in Columbus. It is a wonderful job to work along her sister and help families with their precious little ones in a vulnerable time period. In between the night shifts, sweeping up crumbs, exploring Columbus, and getting kids to where they need to be, Maureen enjoys working out, trying new recipes and restaurants, traveling, spending time with family, being crafty and trying to help others whenever she can! Maureen has many Columbus favorites. Her go-to restaurant is Third and Hollywood, she enjoys a sweet treat at Sassafrass Bakery or Fox in the Snow, a slice of pizza at Dewey's Pizza and a warm cup of joe at Highline Coffee. A perfect Saturday involves an outdoor activity with her family and trying a new restaurant when they can! She is excited to be a part of an excellent team here at Columbus Moms blog and hopes to be able to inspire mothers that small acts of kindness go a long way in raising their kids and the city they live in!
